David has described himself as "a writer of gestures". I think this piece is the best example of this. I've known it and thought about it for 17 years. I actually wanted to subtitle it "A Christmas Movie in Words" bc the more I think about it, the more it just reads like a Christmas movie with all the tropes. So, I hope you enjoy it and come back to it every year, as I do.
